I was lucky enough to be looked after by Dr Kingston when I had a hysterectomy last month. From a phone call the day before my surgery to talk through and explain all the anaesthetic and pain relief options, to coming to check on my in recovery and even calling my parents to let them know the surgery had gone well she went above and beyond in her care. I had both a spinal and general anaesthetic so it took a little time to get everything ready for surgery but her team kept me informed and relaxed throughout. Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback after your surgery. I'm glad to hear the care helped you feel relaxed and that you felt you had enough information to make decisions about your anaesthetic options. I've recently been reminded of the importance of contacting family members after operations are completed to help avoid unnecessary concern. I have been trying to make this part of my regular practice, so I'm happy to hear this was useful for your family. I hope you are recovering well and wish you all the best for the future.

I cannot thank and recommend Liz enough. She was the anaesthetist in charge of my mums stoma surgery and she had SO much time for us. She let us ask a lot of questions and even when we felt our questions were silly she reassured us and answered with confidence and made sure we fully understood everything that was going to happen. She described every possible scenario in depth and then paused to let us ask questions again. She made everyone in the room feel included and was just a delight to be around. I was so worried about my mum and her operation but after meeting and speaking to Liz I knew she would be ok and in great hands!

Thank you so much for your kind feedback. I am really pleased to hear you were able to ask the questions you needed as a family and that our discussion was helpful to you all. I’m a big believer in open, honest chats about both risk and ways to manage risk to support the outcome that a patient is trying to achieve, and that this can help reduce unnecessary worries that can be caused by a lack of information. It was a real pleasure being involved in the case and I hope recovery is going well.

Doctor Kingston was incredible, she came to see me pre operation and spent half an hour sat with me going through my pain care plan. It completely worked and I’ve suffered very little pain post operation. I did not suffer any feeling of sickness post operation. I seem to have recovered very quickly due to the operation pain management that Dr Kingston administered for me. Absolutely first class care, from an incredibly talented and skilled Doctor

I told Dr Kingston i had a reaction to anisetic last time i had an operation.. if i recall the conversation i was told it was slowly given through the procedure which resulted in me not having any reaction as last time i vomited for 7 hours .. I would highly recommend being given anisetic this way. I would like to say thank you to all the staff they where lovely.

I am glad to hear your anaesthetic experience was positive for you this time. We used intravenous anaesthetic throughout your operation, avoiding anaesthetic gas. For patients who previously had severe nausea and vomiting after anaesthetic we often find IV Anaesthetics can reduce the chance of sickness quite significantly, allowing people to eat and drink sooner after their operation, and getting home sooner. Wishing you well for your recovery and future health care.

The care i received from Dr Liz Kingston (Liz) was outstanding! From the very start being a phone call the day before my surgery to the very end of her shift i could not of asked to be cared for any better, quite simply an amazing doctor who is caring, friendly, someone you feel comfortable with. Days prior to my surgery i was nervous and very anxious about the whole thing, one of the main things was having general anaesthetic. From a previous experience it was something i was defiantly not looking forward to. Liz took her time listening to my reasons, then reassured me by explaining the options in a very understanding way. She was open to all questions and more than helpful. Although i work within the healthcare environment myself, it is noticeable that in alot of areas care is lacking recently, however from my experience it was just the opposite i could not complain about a single thing prior, during or after my surgery. Liz is an amazing doctor and an absolute credit to Whiston/the NHS. She is very enthusiastic about her job and genuinely cares for her patients, her engagement with all patients is amazing. I think the only constructive suggestion i could give is have more members of staff like Liz and the team that looked after me. Having a good team does so much for the patients especially during a strange unusual time.

Thank you so much for your feedback- it is really helpful to hear what aspects of care were most useful. I strongly believe that giving clear information and explaining what steps can be taken to improve safety can reduce worries. I am trying to speak to patients a day or so before planned procedures so they have time to think through the information and then ask any questions they want when they meet me in person, and your feedback seems to back up that approach too. Thank you for taking the time to leave such kind comments during your recovery- I hope you are doing well now.
